Sevier County court records, Tennessee, are available through several channels. SevierCourt.us allows you to search for public information about court cases in the county. Online tools allow you to check hearing schedules, case status, and charge details — but obtaining certified copies usually requires in-person or mail requests.

Sevier Court System & Jurisdictions

Several courts operate in Sevier County, each handling specific categories of cases. Understanding jurisdiction will help you contact the appropriate office right away.

Circuit Court is the primary court of general jurisdiction. The Circuit Court Clerk's Office serves two key divisions:

  • Civil Division — claims over $25,000, divorce, guardianship, adoption, and other family matters.
  • Criminal Division — all felonies transferred from General Sessions Court or by grand jury indictments, as well as appeals.

Chancery Court handles cases related to equity law: disputes over real estate, trusts, probate (the process of estate administration), and court orders.

General Sessions Court is the busiest court in the county. It handles:

  • Misdemeanors and preliminary hearings in felony cases
  • Traffic violations
  • Civil claims up to $25,000
  • Arrest warrants and bonds

The General Sessions Clerk's Office processes and maintains records of state warrants, traffic citations, and court hearing records. Juvenile Court separately handles cases involving minors — these records are generally closed to public access.

Sevier Court Calendar & Upcoming Hearings

To find out the date and time of the next hearing, contact the relevant court office directly. There is currently no single online portal with the schedule of all Sevier County courts available to the public.

Practical steps to check the schedule:

  1. Determine which court is handling your case (Circuit, Chancery, or General Sessions).
  2. Call the appropriate office — the clerk will confirm the date, time, and courtroom.
  3. Visit the courthouse in person: the schedule is usually posted near the entrance to the courtroom or available at a public terminal.

For criminal cases transferred from General Sessions to Circuit Court, current information is provided by the Circuit Court Clerk's Office. If the case involves a traffic violation or misdemeanor, contact the General Sessions office.

How to Get a Copy of a Sevier Court Document

Court document copies come in two types: uncertified and certified. A certified copy has the clerk's seal and confirms authenticity — it is required by other courts, government agencies, and employers.

In person. Visit the appropriate court office at the Sevier County Courthouse. You will need the case number or the full name of the party and an approximate date. The clerk will locate the document and make a copy on the spot.

By mail. Send a written request specifying:

  • The full name of the party in the case
  • The case number (if known)
  • The type of document needed
  • Whether a certified copy is required
  • A return address and contact phone number

Include a check or money order for the appropriate amount. Some documents — particularly confidential materials, juvenile cases, and sealed records — are not issued without a judge's order.
